'World Naked Bike Ride' 2022 start point announced
The starting point for this year's "World Naked Bike Ride" event in Oregon has been announced.
The ride will start at Peninsula Park in North Portland on July 30 at 9 p.m. EDT.
The Naked Bike Ride is a worldwide bike ride that looks to raise awareness of the vulnerability of cyclists and the dependence on pollution-based transport.
The annual ride was postponed through the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers are asking people not to travel to Portland “just to ride naked.”
While the starting point was made known, the rest of the route won't be revealed until the ride is underway.
Photos show nude cyclists taking part in the 15th annual World Naked Bike Ride in 2019. Many of them were wearing body paint instead of clothing. The group gathered in Southeast Portland's Laurelhurst Park before riding through the streets, crossing the Burnside Bridge.
Now, cyclists are gearing up to take part in 2022.
The World Naked Bike Ride website notes that it is the "craziest, wildest, most insane event" of the year.
