The Samsung Galaxy Android 14 (One UI 6) beta update arrived earlier this summer and has undergone months of public beta testing alongside Google's version for Pixel phones. The first Galaxy to receive the One UI 6 beta was the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra, naturally, and eventually, Samsung added other phones to the beta program.
UPDATE: 2023/10/30 14:33 EST BY CORY GUNTHER
Samsung officially kicked off its Android 14 (One UI 6) rollout on October 30th, starting with the Galaxy S23 series . Other devices will get it in the following weeks and months.
As expected, this software update will refine the software experience we all know and love. Look for improvements to the home and lock screen, improved widgets, a better quick settings panel, more customization, better security and privacy, camera and gallery improvements, and much more. So, here's which Samsung Galaxy devices will get Android 14 and when to expect it.
When Will Samsung Release Android 14?
Over the years, Samsung has become one of the quickest and best manufacturers regarding software updates, and it's not slowing down. The first Android 12 updates arrived in November 2021, and last year, the Galaxy Android 13 updates started on October 24th. It's that time of the year again!
The Samsung Galaxy One UI 6 (Android 14) beta program has followed a similar timeframe as previous releases, and all signs point to a stable release date soon. According to a company moderator on the official Samsung community forum in Korea, the beta has ended, and updates could begin as soon as October 30th. On X (Twitter), one eagle-eyed fan spotted official stable One UI 6 builds on Samsung's servers, suggesting the launch is imminent, a timeframe echoed by popular leakster UniverseIce.
While we've yet to get an official Android 14 release date from Samsung, expect the first official software updates to arrive within the next 1–3 weeks. It'll slowly roll out for more Galaxy devices throughout November and December.
Which Samsung Galaxy Phones Will Get Android 14, And When?
Justin Duino / Review GeekSamsung hasn't provided a complete list of phones and tablets that will receive the Android 14 update, at least not yet, but we know it'll start with its latest flagship Galaxy S23 and Fold/Flip 5 devices first. Then, as many of you know, Samsung supports its phones with 3-4 Android OS (One UI) updates and between four and five years of security patches.
This means your Galaxy S21 from 2021 will receive Android 14, while older phones like the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S20, or even the Fold 2 should only get software patches moving forward. According to AndroidAuthority, the Galaxy S20 family will likely not receive One UI 6. Here's a bigger (but unconfirmed) list of Samsung Galaxy Android 14 release dates.
Galaxy Phones:
- Galaxy S23 series (Started on October 30th)
- Galaxy S22 series (November)
- Galaxy Fold/Flip 5 (November)
- Galaxy S21 Series (Late November or early December)
- Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4 (Late November or early Dec.)
- Galaxy A73, A72, A54 and A53 (estimated for December)
- Galaxy Fold 3 and Flip 3 (Late December or early January)
- And more
This is only the initial list of some of Samsung's most popular devices over the last few years, but certainly not the only Galaxy phones that'll see Android 14 in the coming months. Thankfully, a more complete list of eligible devices for the Android 14 (One UI 6) update is posted on Samsung's community forums.
If you have devices such as the Samsung Galaxy A52 series, S21 FE, A34, A33, A24 or A23, the Galaxy M54, M53, M33, M23, the Galaxy F54, F23, or even the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro, you'll get the update to Android 14 at some point.
Galaxy Tab Devices:
- Galaxy Tab S9 series (expected in November)
- Galaxy Tab S8 series (Late November or in December)
The two most recent generations of Galaxy Tablets will see an update as well. Unfortunately, older devices that arrived with Android 10 out of the box are only eligible for three years of Android OS updates, while newer models will see at least four major releases. As a result, it looks like Android 13 is the last major update for popular devices like the Galaxy S20 series, the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, Z Fold 2 and Flip 2, the Galaxy Tab 6/7 series, along with the Galaxy Tab A8 and other budget phones.
Even though many of those models won't get Android 14, they'll still receive another year or more of software and security updates, just not major Android releases.
As a reminder, these are only rough estimates, although we expect Samsung to make formal announcements within the next few weeks as the Galaxy Android 14 rollout begins. That said, things can and often change, especially if the company finds bugs or when it comes to mobile carriers. For example, just because the Galaxy S22 in one region gets Android 14 doesn't mean your AT&T or Verizon phone in the U.S. will see it the same week, as those usually take a little longer to arrive.
Either way, we'll watch for additional details and update this list as more updates arrive.
