US Foods to 'transfer operations' from Altoona facility, approx. 65 jobs to be eliminated

ALTOONA, Pa (WJAC) — US Foods announced plans to "transfer operations" from its Altoona warehouse, located along Shuma Drive, in September, resulting in 65 positions being eliminated.

Director of Media Relations Sara Matheu said that the company will be moving some of the Altoona operations to other US Foods' facilities, including those in Allentown and Greensburg.

The Altoona location will still be used as a shuttle yard, however, with 125 drivers and sales staff still employed.

"We have transition plans in place to ensure our customers will continue to experience the same exceptional service they have come to expect from us," Matheu said.

"Decisions like this are never easy and right now, we’re focused on supporting the associates who will be leaving the company. We will offer severance packages and employment services support. Impacted associates may also apply for positions in other facilities in the region," she continued.
