Richland School District officials say there will be an increased police presence at both schools Tuesday after a threat of a shooting at the high school circulated social media.

Superintendent Arnold Nadonley notified parents late Monday night after the threat was reported through the Safe 2 Say hotline.

Nadonley said officials notified parents, staff and the community as soon as possible.

The school administration also reported the threat to Richland Township Police who are investigating.

“The Richland School District takes all such threats seriously and the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority,” Nadonley wrote. “We strongly encourage our community to follow official Richland School District statements.”

In addition to the increased police presence Tuesday, Nadonley says other emergency procedures will be initiated for the foreseeable future.
