SHREVEPORT, LA (CelebrityAccess) – Rapper Mystikal has been released from a Louisiana correctional complex on a $3 million dollar bond after spending nearly a-year-and-a-half in custody on a rape charge, according to The Associated Press.
Best known for his 2000 hit, “Shake (it Fast),” which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, Mystikal (real name is Michael Tyler), surrendered to police in August 2017 after he was accused of a sexual assault that took place at a Shreveport casino in October 2016, reports AP. He was later indicted on charges of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping.
Commenting on the case, Tyler’s attorneys recently told KTBS-TV that they believe they have enough evidence, including video footage, to show their client did not commit the alleged crimes and are expecting the case to be dismissed.
Tyler, who previously served six years in prison for sexual battery and extortion, will head to trial this upcoming May, according to AP.
