State police have released information regarding a fatal accident that took place in Jackson Township, Lebanon County, in February.

According to a press release, the incident took place February 19 just before 3 p.m. on Woleber Road.

State police said the driver of a tractor trailer, identified as Hugo Medranoespinal, 41, of Barstow, CA, failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and continued to travel southbound on Hilltop Road when he struck the other vehicle.

The press release states that the driver of the other vehicle, Ira Mast, 74, of Myerstown, was traveling southbound on Hilltop Road at an unknown speed.

According to state police, Mast was unable to see Medranoespinal enter the lane of travel due to there being a slight dip in the roadway.

The press release states that Mast continued southbound until he collided with Medranoespinal at the Hilltop Road/Woleber Road intersection.

State police said that Mast was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, which caused him to strike his head on his rearview mirror.

According to the press release, Mast was not ejected from his vehicle and was found in the driver's seat.

State police said that Mast was transported to Reading Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased due to his injuries.
