Keith Morris, 30, New Rochelle Firefighter Dies

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Lifelong New Rochelle resident Keith M. Morris died July 23 when a boat he was on capsized in Stamford Harbor. He was 30. 

An investigation by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is under way to determine the cause of his death. Morris was one of five people on the boat when it flipped over. Officials believe he was in the boat's cabin during the accident. The other passengers, including one who was in the cabin with him, survived.

Morris was born Sept. 29, 1981, in New Rochelle to Stephen and Linda Iaccino Morris. He was a firefighter for the New Rochelle Fire Department for more than eight years. 

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Drew; a sister, Shae; his paternal grandmother, Jeanne Morris; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Visiting hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
