More charges filed in Centre Co. drug investigation; State College man ID'd as ring leader
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say more criminal charges have been filed in connection to what police say was a large-scale drug ring operating in Centre County and surrounding areas.
According to a recently released grand jury investigation, close to a dozen people were involved in the drug distribution network, including 46-year-old Larry David, of State College, who was identified as the head of the drug ring.
Police initially arrested David in the spring of 2021, and say they found over 1,400 baggies of heroin in his car, but the investigation of David, and others, dates back to 2020.
The grand jury found that David was distributing large quantities of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine in Centre County and nearby areas.
Most of the drugs, according to police, came from New Jersey.
This week charges were filed against Starla Kemp, who testified before the grand jury last fall, saying that she helped David in making trips to Newark, New Jersey to pick up drugs, usually two or three times a week.
She also testified about collecting thousands of dollars in drug debts, including from people in Lewistown and Harrisburg.
According to the latest grand jury presentment issued at the end of June, David and nine others are now facing a host of drug-related charges.
